The View from My Window – 30Jun16

June30

Time for the monthly update on the view from my office window.

In the photo, there doesn’t seem to have been much change since the beginning of June. But when you’re here, you can tell that the wild roses in the circle garden are blooming, and everything is just fuller.

The weather in June was crummy for the first two weeks: cold and rainy. The rain pushed back the fence-building work which, in turn, pushed back the tree trimming. That pear tree in the foreground has got to go!

It’s been lovely since and all the rain and then the sun has made everything lush. This long holiday weekend promises to be sunny and hot – perfect beach weather.

How’s the weather where you are?;

    It’s feeling like summer here – in the 90s, with thunderstormy afternoons. Your view is so lush and green! Is the pear tree dead or just resting? Hope you don’t spend your 4th entirely on yard work!

    Jane, our temps are around 75F with a humidex of about 85. I’d rather have the straight 85. I least we generally have a breeze, being so near the ocean.

    I’m pretty sure that the branches you can see on the pear tree are dead. There is some live growth lower down. Unfortunately, if we get any outside work done this weekend, it will be the blasted fence.

    Beautiful! It reminds me of my parents’ place in Michigan. Here it has been quite hot, high 90s, 100s, even 107 one day. So the green has lost a bit to the crisping sun. But now we have a week of 80s with cooler nights, so the succulents can rest and the green things can make a comeback!

    We’re about the same latitude as Michigan, Judy, especially the Upper Peninsula.
